Winnsboro Main Street Program

100 E. Broadway, Winnsboro, TX 75494
The program began in 1981 and is affiliated with the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The Texas Main Street city Program is among the most successful downtown revitalization programs in the nations, and has assisted more than 140 Texas cities through the program.
Since its designation, Winnsboro’s Main Street Program has been a major factor in the development and preservation of our downtown with over $11 million dollars reinvested in our downtown through public and private funding.
The Winnsboro Main Street District includes the commercial and industrial buildings bordered on the west by Mill St., east of Walnut, north by Locust and south by Carnegie.  Many of these buildings are constructed of locally produced brick and are 100 or more years old.
The Winnsboro Main Street Program provides a variety of incentives to building owners such as paint, awning, sign grants and free advice on architectural design and restoration.
Main Street is the heart and soul of a community.  Winnsboro’s historic downtown area is fast becoming a “Destination City” featuring fine restaurants, antiques, specialty shops, notable musicians, artists, art galleries and is one of the first cities designated by the State of Texas as A Cultural Arts District.
